ރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާ ހަރުދަނާކޮށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ސައުދީ އަރަބިއްޔާއިން ވެދެއްވަމުންގެންދަވާ އެހީތެރިކަމަށް މަސްވެރިކަމާ ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވަޒީރު އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމް ޝުކުރު އަދާ ކުރައްވައިފިއެވެ.

ސައުދީން ރާއްޖެއަށް ކަނޑައަޅުއްވާފައި ހުންނަވާ ސަފީރު ޔަޙްޔާ ހަސަން އަލްޤަޙްޠާނީ މިއަދު ވަނީ ވަޒީރު ޝިޔާމްގެ އަރިހަށް ޒިޔާރަތްކުރައްވާފައެވެ. މި ޒިޔާރަތުގައި ރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާ އިތުރަށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ކުރެވިދާނެ ކަންތައްތަކާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން ދެ ބޭފުޅުން މަޝްވަރާ ކުރެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއާއި ބްލޫ އިކޮނޮމީ އިތުރަށް ތަރައްގީ ކުރުމަށް ސައުދީ އަރަބިއްޔާއިން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް އިތުރަށް އެއްބާރުލުން ދިނުމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުންވެސް މަޝްވަރާކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ސައުދީ އަރަބިއްޔާއިން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް އަބަދުވެސް އެހީތެރިވެދެއްވާނެ ކަމަށް ސައުދީ ސަފީރު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

މީގެއިތުރަށް ސައުދީ ފަންޑް ފޯ ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓް މެދުވެރިކޮށް ސައުދީ އަރަބިއްޔާއިން އަބަދުވެސް އެއްބާރުލުންދެއްވާނެ ކަމަށާ، ޚާއްސަކޮށް މ.މުލަކުގައި ހުންނަ ކޯލްޑްސްޓޯރޭޖާއި ކޫއްޑޫ، އަދި ރިސާޗް އެންޑް ކޮންޒަވޭޝަންގެ ދާއިރާއިން އިތުރަށް އެއްބާރުލުން ދެއްވާނެ ކަމުގެ ޔަގީންކަން ސަފީރު ދެއްވި އެވެ.

މިއީ ވަރަށް އުފެއްދުންތެރި ބައްދަލުވުމެއް ކަމަށް ސައުދީ ސަފީރު ވަނީ ވިދާޅުވެފައެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ވަޒީރު ޝިޔަމް ވަނީ ސައުދީ އަރަބިއްޔާއިން ރާއްޖޭގެ ތަރައްގީއަށް ވެދެމުންއަންނަ އެހީތެރިކަމަށް ޝުކުރުއަދާކުރައްވާފަ އެވެ.

Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties in the fisheries and blue economy sectors.

The Minister expressed his gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued support through the Saudi Fund for Development, particularly for key investments in harbour development and cold storage facilities in M. Mulah and GA. Kooddoo. Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing collaboration in trade, research, and conservation.

މުނިފޫހިފިލުވުމުގެ ގޮތުން މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރައްވާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް އަމާޒުކޮށްގެން ބާއްވާ މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުން މިއަދު ފަށައިފިއެވެ. މި ބައްދަލުވުން ފެށުނީ މިއަދު ހެނދުނު 9:00 ގައި ހ. މީރުމާގައެވެ. ދެ ސެޝަނަކަށް ބަހާލައިގެން ކުރިއަށްގެންދާ މި ބައްދަލުވުން މިއަދު ހަވީރު 5:00 އާ ހަމައަށް ކުރިއަށްދާނެއެވެ.

މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާބެހޭ ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް މި ބައްދަލުވުން ރަސްމީކޮށް މިއަދު އިފްތިތާޙްކޮށްދެއްވިއެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދަކީ މުނިފޫހިފިލުވުމުގެ ގޮތުން ކުރެވޭ މަސްވެރިކަން ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކުރިއެރުވުމަށްޓަކައި އެޅިދާނެ ފިޔަވަޅުތަކާ މެދު މަޝްވަރާކުރުމެވެ.

ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ ފުރަތަމަ ސެޝަންގައި އަލިއަޅުވާލެއްވީ ވަރކްޝޮޕްގެ މަޤްޞަދުތަކާއި، މުނިފޫހިފިލުވުމުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން މިހާރު ގެންގުޅޭ ވިސްނުންތަކާއި، ޑޭޓާއަށް ބިނާކޮށް ނިންމުންތައް ނިންމުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަމާ ބެހޭ މަޢުލޫމާތު ހިއްސާކުރުމަށެވެ.

ދެވަނަ ސެޝަންގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރެވޭނީ މަޞްލަޙަތުވެރިންގ ކަންބޮޑުވުންތަކާއި މުނިފޫހިފިލުމުގެ ގޮތުން މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް ހުރި ގޮންޖެހުންތަކާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން މަޝްވަރާ ކުރުމެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources today launched a workshop targeting recreational fishers, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the future of recreational fishing and sustainable practices in the Maldives.

The one day workshop commenced at 9:00 AM at H. Meerumaage and is scheduled to conclude at 17:00 hours.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam of the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources officially inaugurated the workshop proceedings.

The workshop's first session provided participants with  briefings on current recreational fishing policies and the importance of using data-driven decision-making. Technical presentations covered data analysis and information sharing methodologies.

The second session will address stakeholders concerns and challenges faced by recreational fishers.

މުނިފޫހިފިލުވުމުގެ ގޮތުން މަސްވެރިކަންކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް އަމާޒުކޮށްގެން މިއަދު ފެށި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ ހުޅުވުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ މުނިފޫހިފިލުމުގެ ގޮތުން ކުރާ މަސްވެރިކަން ނުވަރަ ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިންގ އަކީ ސަރުކާރުން އަދި ވަކީން ހާއްސަކޮށް ރައީސް ޑރ.މުހައްމަދު މުއިއްޒު ވަރަށް ބޮޑު އަހއްމިޔަތު ކަމެއް ދެއްވާ އަދި ސިނާއަތެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ދެކެން ބޭނުންވާ ކަމެއް ކަމަށެވެ.ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ ސިނާއަތެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިން ތަރައްގީ ކުރަން ޖެހޭ ކަމަށެވެ.

ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިން އަކީ ދުނިޔޭގައި ވަރަށް ބޮޑު އާމްދަނީ އެއް ދައުރުވާ ސިނާއަތެއް ކަމަށާ ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިންގއަކީ މަންފާ ލިބޭ ސިނާއަތެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ރާއްޖޭގައިވެސް ތަރައްގީ ކުރެވިދާނެ ކަމެއް ކަމަށެވެ. ރާއްޖެއަށް އަންނަ ފަތުރުވެރިންވެސް މުނިފޫހިފިލުވުމުގެގޮތުން މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރުމަށް ރާއްޖެއަށް ޒިޔާރަތް ކުރާ ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ. ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިން ޕްރޮމޯޓްކޮށްގެން ރާއްޖޭގެ ބައެއް ސަރަހައްދުތަކަށް ލޯކަލް ޓުއަރިޒަމްވެސް ތައާރަފްވެފައި އެބަހުރި ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިން ކޮމިއުނިޓީގައި ހުރި ގޮންޖެހުންތައް ހައްލު ކުރުމަށް ރައީސް މުއިއްޒުގެ މެނިފެސްޓޯގައި ހިމަނަފައި ހުރި ކަންކަން ކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުން އަންނަ ކަމަށެވެ. އެގޮތުން ސްޕޯޓްސް ފިޝިން އަށް ހާއްސަ ބަނދަރު ތަކެއް ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކި ކަންކޮޅުތަކުގައި ތަރައްގީކުރުމަށް މެނިފެސްޓޯގައި ހިމަނާފައިވާނެ ކަމަށާ އެގޮތުން މިހާރު އެ ސަރަހައްދުތައް ކެބިނެޓުންވެސް ކަނޑައަޅާފައިވާ ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ. ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ އެސަރަހައްދުތައް ހުޅުވާލުމަށްޓަކާ ބިޑް ތައްޔާރު ކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް މިހާރު ކުރަމުން އަންނަ ކަމަށެވެ.

 މަޖީދިއްޔާ ސްކޫލުގެ 10 ވަނަ ގްރޭޑުގެ މެރިން ސައިންސް ދަރިވަރުންނަށް، މަނިޔަފުށި މެރިން ރިސާޗް ސެންޓަރުން ވަނީ އެ ދާއިރާއާ ގުޅޭ ޢަމަލީ ތަޖުރިބާ ހޯދައިދިނުމުގެ ޚާއްޞަ ފުރުޞަތެއް ތަނަވަސްކޮށްދީފައެވެ.

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމުގެ ދަށުން، މެރިން ސައިންސް ދާއިރާގެ 11 ދަރިވަރުންނަށް މަނިޔަފުށި މެރިން ރިސާޗް ސެންޓަރަށް ޒިޔާރަތްކޮށް، އެ މަރުކަޒުގެ ޢިލްމީ މަސައްކަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ މަޢުލޫމާތު އެއްކުރުމުގެ ނަމޫނާ ފުރުޞަތެއް ލިބިގެންދިޔައެވެ. މި ޒިޔާރަތުގައި، މޯލްޑިވްސް މެރިން ރިސާޗް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓުން ކުރިއަށްގެންދާ ފިޝަރީޒް ރިސާޗް ޕްރޮގްރާމް، އިކޯސިސްޓަމް ރިސާޗް އަދި މެރިކަލްޗަރ ރިސާޗް ޕްރޮގްރާމްތަކާ ބެހޭ ތަފްޞީލީ މަޢުލޫމާތު ދަރިވަރުންނާ ހިއްސާކުރެވުނެވެ.

Grade 10 Marine Science, eleven students from Majeediyya School visited the K. Maniyafushi Marine Research and Training Facility to gain practical insight into Marine research.

During the visit, the students actively engaged in discussions with experts on the importance of fisheries and ecosystem research programs. They explored the mariculture facilities, gaining firsthand knowledge of sustainable aquaculture practices.

In addition to collecting  information, the students participated in interactive sessions highlighting key projects run by the Maldives Marine Research Institute. These included the Fisheries Research Program, Ecosystem Research initiatives, and Mariculture Research efforts.

ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުވަސް ފާހަގަކުރުމަށްޓަކައި މަސްވެރިކަމާ ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާއިން ކުރިއަށްގެންދިޔަ " މޫދު ފެސްޓް"  ޙަރަކާތް ކާމިޔާބު ކަމާ އެކު ނިންމާލައިފި އެވެ.  މި ޙަރަކާތް މިއަދު މެންދުރުފަހު 13:00 އިން ހަވީރު  18:00 އަށް ހުޅުމާލެ ބީޗް ސަރަޙައްދުގައި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވުނެއެވެ.

" މޫދު ފެސްޓް" ޙަރަކާތުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާބެހޭ ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް އާއި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ޗައިނާ ސަރުކާރުން ކަނޑަ އަޅުއްވާފައި ހުންނަވާ ސަފީރު ކޮންގް ޒިއަނާ އަދި މިނިސްޓްރީގެ މުވައްޒަފުން ބައިވެރިވެ ވަޑައިގެންނެވިއެވެ.

މިދުވަސް ފާހަގަ ކުރުމަށް " މޫދު ފެސްޓް " ގެ އެންމެ މުހިންމު ޙަރަކާތެއްގެ ގޮތުން "ޑިސްކަވާ ޑައިވް" ނަމުގައި ޑައިވް ސެންޓަރުތަކާއި ގުޅިގެން ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވުނެވެ. މިހަރާކާތުގައި 40 އަށްވުރެ ގިނަ ކުޑަކުދިން ވަނީ ބައިވެރިވެފައެވެ.

މި ޙަރަކާތަކީ ޙާއްސަކޮށް ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ކަނޑުގެ ރީތިކަން ދައްކާލުމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ދިރުންތަކުގެ މަޢުލޫމާތު ދިނުމެވެ. މި ޙަރަކާތުގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްސަދަކީ ޒުވާނުންނާއި ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ކަނޑާއި، ކަނޑުގެ ވެށި ހިމާޔަތްކޮށް އަގުވަޒަން ކުރުމަށް ބާރުއެޅުމެވެ.

" މޫދު ފެސްޓު" ޙަރަކާތް ހުޅުވާދެއްވުމުގެ ގޮތުން ވަޒީރު އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމް ހާޒިރީންނާ މުޚާޠަބު ކުރައްވަމުން ވިދާޅުވީ، ދިވެހިންގެ ދިރިއުޅުން ބިނާވެފައިވަނީ ކަނޑާއި އޭގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކުގެ މައްޗަށެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން، ކަނޑުގެ މާޙައުލު ދެނެގަތުމާއި، ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކަނޑުގެ ދިރުންތަކުގެ ބޭނުން ހިފާނެ ގޮތްތައް އުނގެނުމަކީ ނުހަނު މުހިންމު ކަމެކެވެ. އަދި ދިވެރިރާއްޖޭގެ ޢާއިލާތަކުގެ އާމްދަނީ ދެމެހެއްޓުމަށްޓަކައި ކަނޑުގެ ދިރުންތައް ހިމާޔަތްކުރުމަކީ ކޮންމެހެން ކުރާންޖެހޭ ކަމެއް ކަމަށްވެސް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

 "މޫދު ފެސްޓް" ގެ ނަމުގައި ބޭއްވުނު މި ޙަރަކާތުގައި، ކަނޑުގެ މުހިންމުކަމާއި އޭގެ ދިރުންތަކާ ބެހޭ މަޢުލޫމާތު ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމަށްޓަކައި ގިނަ ޢަދަދެއްގެ ސްޓޯލްތަކެއް ވަނީ ބެހެއްޓިފައެވެ. މި ފެސްޓިވަލްގައި ސަރުކާރުގެ ކަމާގުޅޭ ވުޒާރާތަކާއި،  އަމިއްލަ ވިޔަފާރިތަކާއި، ތިމާވެށި ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ ޖަމްޢިއްޔާތަކާއި، އަދި ކާބޯތަކެތީގެ ޚިދުމަތް ފޯރުކޮށްދޭ ފަރާތްތައް ބައިވެރިވެ ވަޑައިންނެވިއެވެ.

މި ޙަރަކާތުގެ ކުޑަކުދިންނާއި ޢާއިލާތަކަށް ކަނޑުތައް ޙިމާޔަތްކުރުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަން އަންގައިދެވުނެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، މެރިން ސައިންސާއި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއިން ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކުރިއަށްދިއުމަށް ހުރި ފުރުޞަތުތަކާ ބެހޭ މަޢުލޫމާތު ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމަށް ސްޓޯލްތަކުގައި އެކި ބާވަތުގެ ޙަރަކާތްތައް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވުނެވެ.

ހަމައެއާއެކު، ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުވަސް ފާހަގަކުރުމުގެ ގޮތުން މިވުޒާރާއިން އިންތިޒާމުކޮށްގެން ބޭއްވި 'އޯޝަން ކުއިޒް' މުބާރާތުގެ ވަނަތަކަށް ހޮވުނު ފަރާތްތަކަށް އިނާމުތައް ހަވާލުކުރެވުނެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has successfully concluded the "Moodhu Fest" event, held to celebrate the World Oceans Day. The event took place today from 13:00 to 18:00 at the Hulhumalé Beach Area.

"Moodhu Fest" was organised to encourage youth and children to protect and value the ocean and marine environment. The event  aimed to raise awareness about marine conservation and educate the public on the sustainable use of marine resources.

The event was attended by the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kong Xian, and Ministry staff.

Speaking at the opening of the Moodhu Fest event, Minister Ahmed Shiyam emphasised that livelihoods of Maldivians is built upon the ocean and its resources. Minister also highlighted that protecting marine ecosystems is essential for sustaining the income of Maldivian families.

One of the key events of the celebrations was the "Discovery Dive" programme, conducted in collaboration with local Dive Centres. More than 40 children participated in this activity, which was designed to show the beauty of the ocean and provide youth and children with information about marine life.

The event also featured numerous stalls offering insights into the importance of ocean conservation. In addition, various activities were conducted at the stalls to provide information on opportunities for sustainable development in marine science and fisheries. Participating organisations included relevant Government Ministries, Private Businesses, Environmental Protection Associations, and food service providers

Additionally, prizes were awarded to the winners of the 'Ocean Quiz' competition organised by the Ministry in recognition of World Oceans Day 2025.

ފްރާންސްގައި މިހާރު ކުރިއަށްދާ އދ. ގެ އޯޝަން ކޮންފަރެންސްގެ 3 ވަނަ ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ތަގުރީރު ކުރައްވަމުން މިނިސްޓަރ ޝިޔާމް ވިދާޅުވީ މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން ކުރާ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރުތަކާ އަދި އެ ނުރައްކަލާ ރާއްޖެއިން ކުރިމަތިލާންޖެހިފައިވާ ކަމަށެވެ. ކަނޑުގެ ލޮނުގަނޑު އުފުލުމާއި މުރަކަތައް މަރުވުމަކީ ހަމައެކަނި ސައިންސުވެރިން ފާހަގަކުރާ ކަންބޮޑުވުމެއް ނޫންކަމަށާއި އެއީ ދިވެހީންގެ ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ހަގީގަތް ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން ދިމާވާ ގޮންޖެހުންތައް އެންމެ ބޮޑަށް ކުރާ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ތެރޭން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ ހިމެނޭ ކަމަށާ، އެހެން ނަމަވެސް އެ ނުރައްކަލުން އަރައިގަތުމަށް ރާއްޖޭން އަބަދުވެސް ކުރީސަފުގައި މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުން އަންނަ ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން ކަނޑުގެ ހޫނުމިން އިތުރުވެ، މަހުގެ ސްޓޮކް ކުޑަވަމުންދާ ކަން މިނިސްޓަރ ފާހަގަ ކުރެއްވި އެވެ.ރާއްޖެއަށް އޮތް އެންމެ ބޮޑު އެއް ގޮންޖެހުމަކީ މޫސުމަށް އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކާއިއެކު ކަނޑުގެ ވެއްޓަށްކުރާ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރުތައް ކަމަށް މިނިސްޓަރ ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

ކަނޑަކީ ސީދާ ދިވެހީންގެ ދިރިއުޅުމާ ގުޅިފައިވާ ވަސީލަތެއް ކަމަށާ އެއީ ދިވެހީންގެ ސަގާފަތް ރަމްޒުކޮށްދޭ އެއްޗެއް ކަމަށްވެސް މިނިސްޓަރ ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

ރާއްޖޭގައި 93 އަށް ވުރެ ގިނަ ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަހައްދު ހިމާޔަތްކޮށްފައިވާ ކަމަށާ އދގެ އޯޝަންސް ކޮންފަރެންސްގެ ލަނޑުދަނޑިތައް ހާސިލްކޮށްފައިވާ ކަމަށް މިނިސްޓަރ ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ. އެއްފަހަރު ބެނުންކޮށް އުކަލާ ޕްލާސްޓިކް ބޭނުން ކުރުން ހުއްޓާލުމަށް ރާއްޖެއިން ގިނަ މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކޮށްފައިވާ ކަމަށްވެސް މިނިސްޓަރ ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ. ކަނޑާ ގުޅުންހުރި މުހިންމު ނިންމުންތައް ނިންމުމުގައި ކަނޑަށް އެންމެ ބޮޑަށް ބަރޯސާވާ ތަރައްގީވަމުން އަންނަ ކުދި ޖަޒީރާ ޤައުމުތަކުގެ ބަސް ހިމެނެން ޖެހޭ ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ. އެހެނީ ކަނޑުގެ މުސްތަޤްބަލަކީ މަދު ބަޔަކަށް ލިޔެވިދާނެ އެއްޗެއް ނޫން ކަމަށް ވަޒީރުގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި ފާހަގަކުރެއްވި އެވެ.

ކުދި ޖަޒީރާ ޤައުމުތަކަށް މާލީ އެހީތެރިކަން ހޯދުމުގައި ގޮންޖެހުންތައް ހުންނަ ކަމަށާއި އެފަދަ ޤައުމުތަކަށް މާލީއެހީތެރިކަން ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމަށް ތަރައްގީވެފައިވާ ޤައުމުތަކަށާއި މާލީ އެހީތެރިކަން ފޯރުކޮށްދޭ ޖަމާއަތްތަކަށް ވަޒީރު ވަނީ ގޮވަލައްވާފަ އެވެ. އަދި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް ކުރާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ދެވޭ ލޯނުތައް މައާފުކޮށްދިނުމަކީ މުހިންމުކަމެއް ކަމަށްވެސް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވިއެ

Minister Ahmed Shiyam, speaking at the 3rd session of the UN Ocean Conference in France, emphasised the devastating impacts and threats posed by climate change to the Maldives.

Speaking about the challenges facing Minister stated that sea level rise and coral bleaching are not just concerns highlighted by scientists, but are the reality of Maldivian life. The Maldives ranks amongst the countries most severely affected by climate-related challenges, the minister noted. Minister  stressed that the nation continues to work to protect itself from these threats.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި، ވަޒީރު އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމް  ވަނީ އެފް.އޭ.އޯއިން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ވެދެއްވަމުންގެންދަވާ އެހީތެރިކަންކަމަށް  ޝުކުރު އަދާކުރައްވާފައެވެ. ޚާއްޞަކޮށް، އެފް.އޭ.އޯގެ އެހީތެރިކަމާއެކު ރާއްޖޭގައި ފެށި ކަނދުފަތީގެ މަޝްރޫޢަށް ދެއްވާފައިވާ ފަންނީ އެހީތެރިކަން ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ދެ ފަރާތުން ވަނީ ކުރިމަގުގައި ގުޅިގެން މަސައްކަތް ކުރެވިދާނެ ދާއިރާތަކާ ބެހޭގޮތުން ފުޅާ ދާއިރާއެއްގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރައްވާފައެވެ. މި މަޝްވަރާތަކުގައި، ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ޤާނޫނެއް އެކުލަވާލުމަށް ފަންނީ އެހީތެރިކަން ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމާއި، މެރިކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާއަށް އިންވެސްޓްކުރުން އިތުރުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އެކުގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރުން ހިމެނެއެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް އެފް.އޭ.އޯގެ ފަރާތުން އިތުރު އެހީތެރިކަން ލިބޭނެކަމަށް އުންމީދުކުރެވެއެވެ.

On the sidelines of the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference  UNOC3, Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with Director-General Qu Dongyu of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

The Minister expressed appreciation to FAO for its prompt support in implementing the anchored FADs project, which was successfully launched within just a few months of the initial request.

Their discussions focused  on strengthening collaboration in ocean governance, including support for the development of a comprehensive Oceans Act, expanding investment in mariculture, and establishing a dedicated FAO office in the Maldives.

Director-General Dr. Qu reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to opening the office and pledged continued support for both fisheries and mariculture development in the Maldives.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MoFOR), in collaboration with the World Bank, is currently hosting the Fourth Implementation Support and Restructuring Mission for the Transforming Fisheries Sector Management in the South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project.

The mission, taking place from June 1 to 7, 2025, aims to strengthen project performance and guide the restructuring process to maximize impact and effectiveness.

Led by Lan Thi Thu Nguyen, Task Team Leader, the mission includes a multidisciplinary delegation of World Bank experts. It also brings together counterparts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, the Maldives Marine Research Institute, and other key institutions.

Throughout the week, the mission team engages in technical discussions to review implementation progress, refine investment priorities, and identify strategic adjustments for restructuring the project to better align with national and regional fisheries development goals

TransFORM continues to serve as an important initiative in advancing sustainable fisheries development in the Maldives, supporting national priorities through innovation, capacity building, and strong institutional collaboration.

މި ފަހުމުނާމާއަކީ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ބޭނުންކުރުމަށާއި، ތިމާވެށި ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް ދެ ޤައުމުން ކުރާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ވެސް އެހީތެރިވެވޭނެ ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ. މިގޮތުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މެދުގައި ހިއްސާކުރެވޭ މަޢުލޫމާތާއި ތަޖުރިބާގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި ދިމާވާ ގޮންޖެހުންތަކަށް ހައްލު ހޯދުމަށް ފަސޭހަ ވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މިފަހުމުނާމާއަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އާއި އިންޑިއާގެ މެދުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި އޮތް ގުޅުން އިތުރަށް ހަރުދަނާކޮށް، ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތު ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް އެޅޭ މުހިންމު ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ. އަދި މީގެ ސަބަބުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއަށް ފައިދާކުރަނިވި ނަތީޖާތަކެއް ޙާޞިލުކުރެވި، ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި މި ދާއިރާ ކުރިއަރައިގެންދާނެކަމަށް އުންމީދުކުރެވެއެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources of the Maldives and the Department of Fisheries under India’s Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral collaboration in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture.

The partnership aims to promote sustainable tuna and deep-sea fisheries, strengthen aquaculture and sustainable resource management, foster fisheries-based eco-tourism, and support innovation and scientific research across both countries.

Key areas of collaboration outlined in the MOU include value chain development, mariculture advancement, trade facilitation, and capacity building within the fisheries sector. As a part of this initiative, the Maldives will scale up its fish processing capabilities by investing in cold storage infrastructure and strengthening the aquaculture sector through hatchery development, improved production efficiency, and the diversification of cultured species.

The MOU also will facilitate training and knowledge exchange programs, with a focus on capacity building in  aquatic animal health, biosecurity screening, aquaculture farm management, and specialized technical fields such as refrigeration, mechanical engineering, and marine engineering to support long-term skills development within the sector.

This cooperation reflects the shared vision of the Maldives and India to build a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable future for the fisheries industry.

The Maldives Marine Research Institute is pleased to announce the 6th Maldives Marine Sciences Symposium (MMS 2026). The Maldives Marine Sciences Symposium serves as the premier platform for sharing marine science research conducted in the Maldives. The 6th MMS is scheduled to be held on August 4-5, 2026, in Malé.

Building upon the successes of previous symposia, this sixth edition symposium is expected to make a valuable contribution to the advancement of knowledge essential for understanding and conserving the Maldivian Marine Environment in the Maldives.

Following the format of past symposiums, the event will bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to facilitate knowledge exchange, share information, and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration on a single platform.

The symposium will offer opportunities for oral presentations and poster sessions, featuring scientific research findings from a diverse range of marine science disciplines in the Maldives. The symposium themes will be determined based on the abstracts submitted.

During the meeting, Minister Shiyam outlined the Ministry's strategic priorities and highlighted the critical role of the Maldives Marine Research Institute in supporting sustainable fisheries.

The discussion focused on potential areas for collaboration, including enhancing value addition through improved processing, promoting sustainable financing mechanisms, empowering women involved in small-scale fish processing, and strengthening the resilience of the fisheries sector.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with His Excellency Xiaokui, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, His Excellency Kong Xianhua, Ambassador of China to the Maldives; and a visiting delegation from Fujian Province to discuss enhanced cooperation in marine economic development.

The meeting reflected on the strengthening partnership between the Maldives and China in the blue economy sector, following His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s recent State Visit to China.

During the discussions, the Minister expressed appreciation for Fujian Province’s technical support to the Maldives Marine Research Institute in advancing the sea cucumber aquaculture programme. He also acknowledged the growing involvement of Chinese private sector partners in aquaculture development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation through expanded technical training in fisheries and aquaculture, collaborative maritime research, and increased investment in aquaculture and sports fishing ventures in the Maldives.

As part of an initiative to enhance the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning capacities of the RSW Financing Project, the Lives & Livelihoods Fund (LLF) launched an Adaptive Results-Based Management (aRBM) program. 

In the event, LLF introduced the program, its principles and its role in monitoring project progress, to all key stakeholders and set the foundation for its implementation in the Maldives. The aRBM is a results-based program that facilitates adaptive management, learning, and data-driven decision-making for long-term project sustainability.

This program is being implemented under the “Support People's Livelihoods in the Fishery Sector in Maldives through Sustainable Energy” project, organized by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and supported through the Lives & Livelihoods Fund (LLF).

This initiative marks a significant step toward improving transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in the fisheries sector—an essential component of the Maldivian economy and community well-being.
