މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ފަރާތުން ހިންގާ މެރިން ހެޗަރީ ސްކިލްސް ޑިވޮލޮޕްމެންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ ދަށުން 2025 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ ފުރަތަމަ ބޭސިކް މެރިކަލްޗާރ ޓްރެއިނިންގ ކޯސް ދަނީ ކ. މަނިޔަފުށީ، ރިސާރޗް އެންޑް ޓްރެއިނިންގ ފެސިލިޓީގައި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދަމުންނެވެ. މި ތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒުގެ ސަރުކާރުގެ ހަފްތާ 14 މަގު ޗާޓުގައި ހިމަނުއްވާފައިވާ ޙަރަކާތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން ފެށިގެން ކުރިއަށްގެންދެވޭ، ފަރުމަސް އާލާ ކުރުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ ހެޗަރީތައް ޤާއިމުކުރާނެ ގޮތާއި އެކުއަކަލްޗަރގެ ހުނަރުތައް ޒުވާނުންނަށް ދަސްކޮށްދިނުމުގެ ތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމެކެވެ. މެރިން ހެޗަރީ ސްކިލްސް ޑިވެލޮޕްމެންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ މަޤުސަދަކީ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި މެރިން އެކުއަކަލްޗަރގެ (މެރިކަލްޗަރގެ) ސިނާއަތެއް ރާއްޖޭގައި ޤާއިމުކުރުމަށް މަގުފަހި ކުރުމަށްޓަކައި މެރިކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާއިން މީހުން ބިނާކުރުމެވެ. އޭޕްރިލް 26 އިން ފެށިގެން 08 މެއި އަށް ކުރިއަށްދާ މި ކޯހުގައި ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކި އަތޮޅުތަކުން 15 ބައިވެރިން ދަނީ ތަމްރީންވަމުންނެވެ. މި ތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ ދަށުން ދެވަނަ ކޯހެއް މި އަހަރުގެ އޮކްޓޯބަރ-ނޮވެމްބަރ ގައި އާންމުންނަށް ހުޅުވައިލައިގެން ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވޭނެއެވެ.

ވަރލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ އެހީގައި މިނިސްޓްރީން ހިންގާ ޓްރާންސްފޯމް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓުގެ އެހީތެރިކަމާއެކު މޯލްޑިވްސް މެރިން ރިސާރޗް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓުން ހިންގާ މި ކޯހުގެ ދަށުން ރާއްޖޭގައި މެރިކަލްޗަރ ސިނާއަތެއް ތައާރަފުކޮށް ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ ދިވެހި ފަންނުވެރިން ބިނާކުރެވޭނެއެވެ. މިގޮތުން، އެކުއަކަލްޗަރގެ ނިޒާމުތަކާއި، ދިރޭ ކާނާ އާލާކުރުމާއި، ފާނަޔާއި ހުއިފިލަނޑަޔާއި ދިވެހި މާގަނޑުމަސް އަދި އިތާމުތް އާލާކުރުމާއި، އާލާކުރާ ބާވަތްތަކަށް ޖެހޭ ބަލިތައް ދެނެގަނެ ބަލިތަކުން ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމާއި، މެރިކަލްޗަރ މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރުމުގައި ތިމާވެށްޓަށް ގެއްލުން ކުޑަވާގޮތަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރުމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން މައުލޫމާތު ދިނުމުގެ އިތުރުން، ފާނަޔާއި ހުއިފިލަނޑާ އަދި މާގަނޑުމަސް އާލާކުރުމުގެ އަމަލީ ތަޖުރިބާ ކޯހުގެ ބައިވެރިންނަށް ފޯރުކޮށްދެވިފައި ވާނެއެވެ.

މެރިން ހެޗަރީ ސްކިލްސް ޑިވެލޮޕްމެންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ ދަށުން މި ވަގުތު ކުރިއަށްދާ ބޭސިކް މެރިކަލްޗާރ ޓްރެއިނިންގ ކޯހުގެ ނިންމުމުގެ ރަސްމިޔާތު 08 މެއި 2025 ވާ ބުރާސްފަތި ދުވަހު ކ. މަނިޔަފުށީ، ރިސާރޗް އެންޑް ޓްރެއިނިންގ ފެސިލިޓީގައި ބޭއްވުމަށްވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ. މި ރަސްމިޢްޔާތު ޝަރަފުވެރި ކޮށްދެއްވާނީ މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ވަޒީރު އަލްފާޟިލް އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources is currently conducting the first Basic Mariculture Training Course of 2025 under the Marine Hatchery Skills Development Program. The training, which commenced on April 26 and will conclude on May 8, is being held at the Research and Training Facility in K. Maniyafushi. Fifteen participants from various atolls across the Maldives are taking part.

This training program aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's 100-day "Hafuthaa 14" roadmap, which focuses on the establishment of hatcheries and the development of aquaculture skills among the youth. The training aims to develop mariculture expertise while fostering additional income and employment opportunities for communities across the Maldives.

The program is being implemented by the Maldives Marine Research Institute with support from the World Bank-funded Transform Project. It seeks to develop local technical expertise necessary for introducing and advancing a mariculture industry in the Maldives.

The course covers aquaculture systems, live feed production, and techniques for culturing grouper, sea cucumber, and pearl oysters. Additionally, it includes the identification of diseases affecting cultured species and methods for disease prevention.

The closing ceremony for the Basic Mariculture Training Course will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Research and Training Facility in K. Maniyafushi. The ceremony will be honored by the presence of the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources.

މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް، ހައްދުންމަތީ އަތޮޅު ކައުންސިލާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައި، އެ އަތޮޅުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމާ ގުޅުންހުރި މުހިންމު މައްސަލަތަކާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން މަޝްވަރާ ކުރައްވައިފިއެވެ. މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ވަޒީރުގެ އިތުރުން މިނިސްޓްރީގެ އިސްވެރިންވެސް ބައިވެރިވެ ވަޑައިގެންނެވިއެވެ.

ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މަސްވެރިންގެ ދަފްތަރު އެކުލަވާލުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަމާއި، އެ ދަފްތަރުގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރިންނަށް ލިބޭނެ ފައިދާތަކާ ބެހޭގޮތުންވެސް މަޝްވަރާކުރެވުނެވެ. މި ދަފްތަރަކީ މަސްވެރިންނަށް އަމާޒުކޮށްގެން ހިންގޭ ޕްރޮގްރާމްތަކާއި އެހީތެރިކަން ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމުގައި މުހިންމު ދައުރެއް އަދާކުރާނެ ވަސީލަތެއްކަން ފާހަގަކުރެވުނެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam held a meeting with members of the Hadhunmathi Atoll Council. The meeting was held at the Ministry.

During the meeting, the council members focused on ongoing challenges and development of fisheries projects within the atoll. In addition, council members outlined key fisheries development projects that could be implemented  with the support and collaboration of the Ministry.

Furthermore, Minister Ahmed Shiyam emphasised the government's commitment, under the  leadership of President  H.E Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, to implementing policies that enhance the economic benefits of the fisheries sector.

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the importance of the National Fishermen’s Registry. The  Fishermen's  registry aims to formalise employment in the fisheries sector, enable fishers to access financial and social protection schemes, and strengthen their livelihoods.

Additionally, the Minister emphasized the need to strengthen statistical data collection in the fisheries sector to enhance policy formulation and strategic planning, ensuring sustainable resource management.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam was accompanied to the meeting by Minister of State Mohamed Muthalib, and Director Ahmed Shifaz.

A delegation from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs visited the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources to explore potential areas of collaboration under the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement (CMFTA).

Sichuan is one of the most economically dynamic provinces in western China, with a GDP of approximately 7 trillion yuan. Its economy is strongly rooted in agriculture and aquaculture, making it a key player in China’s rural development and food production sectors.

The visiting delegation expressed keen interest in fostering cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture, particularly in areas such as modern fisheries technology transfer, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.

Both sides expressed appreciation for the strengthening ties between the Maldives and China, reaffirming the importance of ongoing collaboration through the CMFTA and other bilateral platforms.

ފްލޯޓިންގ އޭކާސްއިން މޫދުވިނަ އާލާކުރުމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން ދިރާސާކުރުމަށްފަހު ކުރި މަސައްކަތުން ހުއްދަ ލިބޭގޮތް ނުވެ އޮއްވާ، މި ސަރުކާރުން ކަނޑައަޅާފައިވާ މެރިކަލްޗަރ ފަހި ސިޔާސަތުގެ ދަށުން ވަނީ ފްލޯޓިންގ އޭކާސްއަށް 1 އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ މުއްދަތަށް މަޝްރޫޢު ކުރިޔަށް ގެންދިއުމުގެ ހުއްދަ ދީފައެވެ. މި ހުއްދަ ދިނުމުގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު ކަނޑައަޅުއްވާފައިވާ ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން އިޤްތިޞާދީ މަސައްކަތް ފުޅާކުރުމުގެ ސިޔާސަތުގެ ތެރެއިން، މިމަސައްކަތް ދިރާސާކޮށް، ފުލް ސްކޭލް ޕާރމިޓެއް ދިނުމުގެ ކުރިން ހުރެދާނެ ކަންކަން ދެނެގަތުމެވެ.

މީގެ ކުރިން އެފް.އޭ.އޯ އިން ވަނީ މި ބާވަތުގެ މޫދުވިނަ ރާއްޖޭގައި އާލާކުރެވިދާނެތޯ ބެލުމަށް އަޖުމަ ބެލުމުގެ މަޝްރޫޢެއް ވަނީ ހިންގާފައެވެ. އެ މަޝްރޫޢު ނިމުމުން ޝާއިޢުކުރި ރިޕޯޓުގައި ފާހަގަކޮށްފައިވަނީ މޫދުވިނަ އާލާކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ކުރެވިދާނެ މަސައްކަތެއް ކަމަށެވެ. ނަމަވެސް މިހާތަނަށް ނިމިދިޔަ އެއްވެސް ސަރުކާރަކުން މޫދުވިނަ އާލާކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތަކަށް ހުއްދަ ދީފައެއް ނުވެއެވެ.

އޭޝިއާގެ ޤައުމުތަކުގައި މޫދުވިނަ މީގެ 50 އަހަރު ކުރިން ފަށައި ފުޅާދާއިރާއެއްގައި ކުރިއަރަމުން އަންނަ އިންޑަސްޓްރީއެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި އަންނަނީ ކުރިއަރަމުންމެވެ. މިވަގުތުވެސް ދުނިޔޭގައި ކަލްޗަރކުރާ މޫދުވިނައިގެ 98 އިންސައްތަ ކަލްޗަރކުރަނީ މައިގަނޑުގޮތެއްގައި އޭޝިއާގެ ޤައުމުތައް ކަމުގައިވާ ޗައިނާ، އިންޑޮނޭޝިއާ، ސައުތު ކޮރެއާ އަދި ފިލިޕީންސްގައެވެ.

އެގޮތުން 2023 ވަނަ އަހަރު ދުނިޔޭގެ މޫދުވިނައިގެ މާރކެޓް ވެލިއު 17.14 ބިލިއަން ޑޮލަރުގައި ހުރިއިރު. 2032 ވަނަ އަހަރަށް އަންނައިރު މި އަދަދު 2 ގުނަ ވާނެކަމަށް މާހިރުން ވިދާޅުވެއެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަކީ 99 އިންސައްތަ ކަނޑު ހިއްސާކުރާ ޤައުމަކަށްވީ ހިނދު މެރިކަލްޗަރ އާއި ގުޅުންހުރި މިފަދަ މަސްރޫއުތަކުން ރަށުގައި ތިބެގެން ދިވެހި ޒުވާނުންނާއި ކަނބަލުންނަށް އައު ވަޒީފާގެ ފުރުޞަތުތައް ހުޅުވި، ޤައުމުގެ އެކްސްޕޯޓް އާމްދަނީ އިތުރުވެ، މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ގުޅުންހުރި ދާއިރާތަކުން ޒަމާނީ ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީ ރާއްޖެއަށް ތަޢާރަފުވުމާއިއެކު ދިވެހިންނަށް އައު ހުނަރުތައް ދަސްކުރުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ. މިއީ ޤައުމުގެ އިޤްތިޞާދީ އަދި އިޖްތިމާޢީ ތަރައްޤީއަށް މަގުފަހިކޮށްދޭނެ މުހިންމު ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam officially inaugurated the first commercial seaweed cultivation project in the Maldives, located in Baa Atoll Fehendhoo. As a part of efforts to implement President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's strategic policy to enhance economic diversification through marine resources and establish a profitable mariculture industry in Maldives.

The project aims to establish seaweed farming (cultivating and harvesting) as a commercial activity in the Maldives, focusing on sustainable practices while creating new employment opportunities for local communities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by council members, local, community members, and State Minister and Senior officials, from the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources.

މީގެ އިތުރުން، ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ޗައިނާ-ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މިނިވަން ވިޔަފާރީގެ (ސީ.އެމް.އެފް.ޓީ.އޭ) އެއްބަސްވުން  ބެހޭގޮތުން ވާހަކަ ދެއްކެވުނެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ދަށުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މެދުގައި ކަނޑުގެ ކާނާގެ ވިޔަފާރި އިތުރަށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ހުރި ފުރުޞަތުތަކާއި ބެހޭގޮތުން މަޝްވަރާކުރެވުނެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމަކީ ކުރިއަށް އޮތްތަނުގައި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ޗައިނާއާ ދެމެދު ކަނޑުގެ ކާނާގެ ވިޔަފާރި ފުޅާކޮށް، ދެ ޤައުމުގެ އިޤްތިޞާދީ ގުޅުން އިތުރަށް ހަރުދަނާކުރުމަށް މަގުފަހިވެގެންދާނެ މުހިންމު ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with the Chinese Seafood and Aquatic Products Business Delegation, comprising representatives from various Chinese seafood companies. The discussion focused on the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement (CMFTA), with particular emphasis on opportunities for Chinese companies to import fish and aquatic products from Maldives.

The CMFTA  will provide an excellent platform for our fisheries sector to enabling access to the Chinese market, and enhance the bilateral trade relationship between the Maldives and China.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރެވުނީ އެކުގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރެވިދާނެ ދާއިރާތަކާ ބެހޭގޮތުންނެވެ. މީގެ ތެރޭގައި ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި މެރިން މިއުޒިއަމެއް ޤާއިމުކުރުމާއި، ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އަދި ޗައިނާގައި ކަނޑުގެ ސަޤާފަތާ ގުޅޭ މައުރަޒުތައް ބޭއްވުން ހިމެނެއެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with representatives from the National Marine Museum of China, Shanghai University, and Wuhan University of Technology.

The meeting focused on potential collaborations, including the establishment of a Marine Museum in the Maldives and the organisation of marine cultural exhibitions in both the Maldives and China. Minister Shiyam expressed a strong interest in advancing these initiatives and conveyed his appreciation for the partnerships formed through this significant endeavour.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam Discusses Collaboration with Chinese Institutions for Marine Museum and Cultural Exhibition

The Minister Ahmed Shiyam and senior officials from the Ministry held a meeting with tuna processors, exporters and other industry stakeholders to discuss proposals submitted for the 29th Session of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC).

During the discussions, industry partners shared their concerns and key priorities regarding the proposals. The Minister expressed appreciation for the stakeholders' input and thanked the industry partners for their continued collaboration.

މި ޕްރޮޖެކްޓަކީ، ކޮރަލް ރިސާރޗް އެންޑް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓް އެކްސެލެރޭޓަރ ޕްރޮގްރާމް (ކޯޑެޕް)ގެ އެހީގައި ހިންގޭ 3 އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ޕްރޮޖެކްޓެކެވެ. މިޕްރޮޖެކްޓްގެ އަމަލީ މަސައްކަތްތައް ރާއްޖޭގައި ފެށުން ފާހަގަ ކުރުމަށްޓަކައި "ރީފް ސީޑް ޑެމޮންސްޓްރޭޝަން ޑޭ" ގެ ނަމުގައި ޚާއްސަ ހަރަކާތެއް މިއަދުވަނީ ކ. މަނިޔަފުށީގައި ބާއްވާފައެވެ.

ރީފްސީޑް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓްގެ ދަށުން "ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމް"ގެ ނަމުގައި، މުރަކައިގެ ބިސް އަދި ލާރވޭ ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން މުރަކަ އާލާކުރުމުގެ ޚާއްސަ އެކުއަކަލްޗަރ ކޮންޓެއިނަރ ސިސްޓަމެއް އޮސްޓްރޭލިޔާގައި ތައްޔާރުކޮށް، އެ ސިސްޓަމް މިހާރު ވަނީ ކ.މަނިޔަފުށީގައި ހިންގާ މެރިކަލްޗަރ ރިސާރޗް އެންޑް ޓްރެއިނިންގ ފެސިލިޓީގައި ބެހެއްޓިފައެވެ. ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ޢާންމުކޮށް މުރަކަ ވިހާ ދުވަސްވަރު ކަމަށްވާ ފެބްރުވަރީ އާއި މެއި މަހާއި ދެމެދެ ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމްގެ ބޭނުންކުރުން ފަށައި އަދި ސިސްޓަމްގެ ޒަރީއްޔާއިން ފަރުތައް އިޔާދަކުރުން ތަޖުރިބާ ކުރުމުގެ ތައްޔާރީތައް ދަނީ ވަމުންނެވެ. މިސިސްޓަމްގައި މުރަކައިގެ ބިސް، އެކުއަކަލްޗަރ ފަންނުތައް ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން، ލާރވޭގެ ސްޓޭޖުން ފަރުތަކުގައި އަށަގަންނަ މިންވަރަށް ބޮޑުކޮށް އަދި ކަނޑައެޅޭ ފަރުތަކަށް ބަދަލުކޮށް، މި ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީގެ ޒަރިއްޔާއިން ފުޅާ ދާއިރާއެއްގައި ފަރުތައް އިޔާދަކުރުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު އޮތް މިންވަރު ދެނެގަތުމުގެ ދިރާސާ މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރުން ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ.

ރީފްސީޑް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓްގެ އަމަލީ މަސައްކަތްތައް ރާއްޖޭގައި ފެށުމުގެ ކުރިން އެމް.އެމް.އާރް.އައިގެ މުވައްޒަފުން ވަނީ 2024 ވަނަ އަހަރު، އޮސްޓްރޭލިއާގެ އެއިމްސްގެ ފެސިލީޓީގައި މުރަކަ ވިއްސާ އާލާކުރުމާއި ފަރުތައް އިޔާދަކުރުމުގެ ފަންނުތަށް އުނގެނި ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމް ބޭނުންކުރުމަށް ތަމްރީނުދެވިފައެވެ. "ރީސް ސީޑް ޑެމޮންސްޓްރޭޝަން ޑޭ" ގޮތުގައި ކ. މަނިޔަފުށީގައި ބޭއްވުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ހަރަކާތުގައި، ފަރުތައް ހިމާޔަތްކޮށް އިޔާދަކުރުމުގެ މަސްލަހަތުވެރި ސަރުކާރުގެ އިދާރާތަކާއި ޖަމްއިއްޔާތަކުގެ ބޭފުޅުން ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމަށް އަހުލުވެރިކުރުވައި އަދި ކުރިއަށް ރޭވިފައިހުރި މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ މަޢުލޫމާތު ދިނުން ހިމެނެއެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam officially inaugurated the Reef Seed Project activities during the Reef Seed Demonstration Day in the Maldives at K. Maniyafushi.  This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Maldives Marine Research Institute, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with funding provided by the Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP).

Minister Ahmed Shiyam highlighted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s strong commitment to fostering a research-focused society, which plays a key role in advancing sustainable marine conservation efforts.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam,  further emphasized that the future of our coral reefs lies in our hands, stating that the actions we take today will determine the health of our marine ecosystems tomorrow.

The Reef Seed Project represents a major milestone in reef restoration research and development within the Maldives. It clearly demonstrates the strength of international collaboration and a shared commitment to protecting marine environments for the benefit of future generations.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam held discussions with the Managing Director of Fuel Supplies Maldives Private Limited (FSM), Fathimath Ashan, to develop FSM facilities in Gaafu Alif Atoll, Kooddoo, and Lhaviyani Atoll, Felivaru, addressing the challenges in fuel supply faced by fishermen.

During the meeting, they reviewed FSM's  development efforts structured to enhance the fuel distribution infrastructure at these key locations. The discussions focused on strategic improvements to overcome current obstacles and ensure more reliable fuel access for fishermen.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި، ވަޒީރު އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމް  ވަނީ އެފް.އޭ.އޯއިން ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ވެދެއްވަމުންގެންދަވާ އެހީތެރިކަންކަމަށް  ޝުކުރު އަދާކުރައްވާފައެވެ. ޚާއްޞަކޮށް، އެފް.އޭ.އޯގެ އެހީތެރިކަމާއެކު ރާއްޖޭގައި ފެށި ކަނދުފަތީގެ މަޝްރޫޢަށް ދެއްވާފައިވާ ފަންނީ އެހީތެރިކަން ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

On the sidelines of the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference  UNOC3, Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with Director-General Qu Dongyu of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

The Minister expressed appreciation to FAO for its prompt support in implementing the anchored FADs project, which was successfully launched within just a few months of the initial request.

Their discussions focused  on strengthening collaboration in ocean governance, including support for the development of a comprehensive Oceans Act, expanding investment in mariculture, and establishing a dedicated FAO office in the Maldives.

Director-General Dr. Qu reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to opening the office and pledged continued support for both fisheries and mariculture development in the Maldives.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam had the honor of receiving UNDP Resident Representative Mr Enrico Gaveglia for a farewell courtesy call, marking the end of his assignment in the Maldives. Grateful for his valuable contributions—especially to the fisheries sector—and wishing him continued success in his future assignment.

މިނިސްޓަރ އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމްގެ އަރިހަށް ޔޫ.އެން.ޑީ.ޕީގެ ރެސިޑެންޓް، ރެޕްރެޒެންޓެޓިވް އެންރިކޯ ގަވެގްލިއާ ވަދާޢީ ޒިޔާރަތެއް ކުރައްވައިފި

މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާ އަދި ވާރލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ ހިލޭ އެހީއާއި ލޯނު އެހީގައި، މި މިނިސްޓްރީއިން ކުރިއަށް ގެންދާ ޓްރާންސްފޯމް މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ހަތަރުވަނަ 'އިމްޕްލިމެންޓޭޝަން ސަޕޯޓް އެންޑް ރީސްޓްރަކްޗަރިންގ މިޝަން' ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ބާއްވަމުންދަނީއެވެ.

ޖޫން 1-7 2025 އަށް ބާއްވާ މިމިޝަންގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދަކީ މަޝްރޫޢިން މިހާތަނަށް ކުރެވިފައިވާ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއި، ކުރިއަށް ރޭވިފައިވާ ޙަރަކާތްތަކުގެ ތަފްޞީލީ މަޢުލޫމާތު ހޯދާ، މަޝްއޫރުގެ މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން ބަދަލު ގެންނަންޖެހޭނެ ކަންތައް ފާހަގަކޮށް، ވާރލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ އިރުޝާދާއެކު މިމަޝްރޫޢުގެ މަސައްކަތްތައް އިތުރަށް ހަރުދަނާކުރުމެވެ.  

މި މިޝަންގައި ވާރލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ ފަރާތުން، އެކި ދާއިރާތަކުގެ މާހިރުން ބައިވެރިވެއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް އެގްރިކަލްޗަރ އެންޑް އެނިމަލް ވެލްފެއަރ، މޯލްޑިވްސް މެރިން ރިސަރޗް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓް އަދި އެހެނިހެން މުހިންމު މުޢައްސަސާތަކުންވެސް ބައިވެރިވެއެވެ.

މި ހަފްތާގެ ތެރޭގައި، މިޝަން ޓީމުން ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް ތަންފީޒުކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދާގޮތް ދެނެގަނެ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި އިންވެސްޓްކޮށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް އިސްކަންދޭންޖެހޭ ދާއިރާތައްވެސް ފާހަގަކުރާނެެއެވެ.

ޓްރާންސްފޯމް މަޝްރޫއުއަކީ ވޯލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ އެހީތެރިކަމާއެކު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާ ތަރައްޤީކޮށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ހިންގޭ މުހިންމު މަޝްރޫޢެކެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MoFOR), in collaboration with the World Bank, is currently hosting the Fourth Implementation Support and Restructuring Mission for the Transforming Fisheries Sector Management in the South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project.

The mission, taking place from June 1 to 7, 2025, aims to strengthen project performance and guide the restructuring process to maximize impact and effectiveness.

Led by Lan Thi Thu Nguyen, Task Team Leader, the mission includes a multidisciplinary delegation of World Bank experts. It also brings together counterparts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, the Maldives Marine Research Institute, and other key institutions.

Throughout the week, the mission team engages in technical discussions to review implementation progress, refine investment priorities, and identify strategic adjustments for restructuring the project to better align with national and regional fisheries development goals

TransFORM continues to serve as an important initiative in advancing sustainable fisheries development in the Maldives, supporting national priorities through innovation, capacity building, and strong institutional collaboration.

Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, attended the 2025 Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Annual General Meeting on a special invitation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF). The event was held at the Centre International de Conférences—Abdelatif Rahal in Algeria on 22 May.

Minister Shiyam participated as a panelist in a special knowledge-sharing event hosted by the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) titled “Transforming Lives and Livelihoods – Mobilise for Impact.”

The forum aimed to highlight the significant contributions of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) across 32 countries,  showcasing its impact in nations such as the Maldives, Sierra Leone, and Tajikistan.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam highlighted the impact of the IsDB- and LLF-funded project in the Maldives, addressing key challenges such as the high capital costs associated with vessel construction and maintenance, rising fuel prices, and the logistical difficulties and expenses involved in procuring ice. Minister stated

“Access to finance remains one of the biggest barriers, especially given the informal or family-owned nature of our fishing operations. This is where the project supported by the IsDB and LLF is making a real difference

Minister Ahmed Shiyam explained how the project aligns with national development strategies, stating “The project is not operating in a vacuum. It is aligned with several key policies of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu that promote investment in innovative solutions and modern technology to transform our fishery, particularly those that improve the quality of catch and enhance the efficiency of the fleet.”

Minster  also highlighted the increasing presence of women in post-harvest and processing stages within the fisheries value chain. He emphasised the Ministry’s efforts to build on this momentum through targeted interventions for women and youth.

In his closing remarks, Minister Shiyam expressed gratitude to the IsDB and LLF for their support and conveyed interest in scaling up such initiatives.

The ongoing RSW Financing Facility is a development initiative funded by the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), aimed at improving fishing vessel operations in the Maldives.

This programme facilitates the modernisation of vessels by equipping them with Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) systems and Solar Photovoltaic (PV)-based power supplies, thereby enhancing efficiency and sustainability within the sector.

Since the launch of the second phase of the RSW Financing Facility, a total of 59 applications have been received. Of these, 21 applications have been approved to date, with financial disbursements successfully completed for 14 approved applicants.

ނ. ކުޑަފަރިގައި " އަގުއެއްކުރި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުން ތައްޔާރުކުރުމާއި ކުދި ވިޔަފާރި ހިންގާ ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ" ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމެއް 18 މެއި 2025 ވަނަ ދުވަހު ފެށިއްޖެއެވެ.  މި ވުޒާރާއިން ހިންގާ މިތަމްރީނު މިމެއި މަހުގެ 18 އިން 22 ވަނަ ދުވަހުގެ ނިޔަލަށް ކުރިޔަށް ދާނެއެވެ. މިތަމްރީނު ގައި ޖުމްލަ  15 ބޭފުޅުން ބައިވެރިވެއެވެ. އެއީ 14 އަންހެން ބޭފުޅުންނާއި  އަދި އެއް ފިރިހެން ބޭފުޅެކެވެ.  

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމުގެ މަޤްޞަދަކީ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތުގައި މަހާއި މަހުންތައްޔާރުކުރާ ބާވަތްތައް ތަރައްޤީކޮށް، މަތީ އަގު ލިބޭނެ ބާވަތްތައް އުފައްދައި އެބާވަތްތައް މާކެޓްތަކަށް ބޭނުންވާ ގޮތަށް ވިޔަފާރީގެ އުޞޫލުން އަގުއެއްކުރި  މަހާއިމަހުގެ   އުފެއްދުންތައް ތައްޔާރުކޮށް އަޙުލުވެރިކުރުވުމެވެ.

މިސެޝަންތަކުގައި  ގައި މަޢުލޫމާތު ދެއްވާނީ މިވުޒާރާގެ ފަންނީ ދެ މުވައްޒަފުން ކަމަށް ވާ ޑެޕިޔުޓީ ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޖެނެރަލް އާދަމް  އާއި ފިޝާރީޒް އޮފިސަރ މުހައްމަދު އަހުސަން އެވެ.

A training programme on Value-Added Fish Products and Small Business Management commenced on 18 May 2025 in N. Kudafari and will continue until 22 May 2025.

A total of 15 participants have enrolled in the training, comprising 14 women and one man. The programme aims to enhance value-added fish processing, develop high-value fish products,  with the knowledge to prepare fish products that meet market demands through commercial principles.

The sessions are being facilitated by two technical experts from the Ministry  Deputy Director General Adam and Fisheries Officer Mohamed Ahsan.

ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް، ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ ކިނބިދޫ ދާއިރާގެ އިއްޒަތްތެރި މެންބަރު މުޙައްމަދު އަޝްރަޤް އަދި ތ. ކަނޑޫދޫ ކައުންސިލްގެ ރައީސް އަޙްމަދު ރީހާނާއި ކައުންސިލްގެ މެންބަރުންނާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައިފިއެވެ.

ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މައިގަނޑު ގޮތެއްގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރެވުނީ ތ. ވަންދޫ އަދި ތ. ހިރިލަންދޫގެ އައިސްޕްލާންޓްތަކަށް ދިމާވެފައިވާ މައްސަލަތައް އަވަހަށް ހައްލުކޮށްދިނުމާ ގުޅޭގޮތުންނެވެ. މި މައްސަލަތަކަކީ އެ ސަރަޙައްދުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމަށް ވަރަށް ބޮޑު ހުރަހަކަށްވެފައިވާ ކަމެއްކަން ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ފާހަގަކުރެވުނެވެ. މީގެއިތުރުން ކަނޑޫދޫ ކައުންސިލުން ވަނީ އެ ރަށުގައި ވަދު ކަނދުފައްޗެއް ޤާއިމްކުރުމަށް އެދިވަޑައިގެންފައެވެ.

މީގެއިތުރުން، މެރިކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާގައި ހުރި ފުރުޞަތުތަކާއި މިނިސްޓްރީން ކުރިއަށްގެންދަވާ ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމްތަކާ ބެހޭގޮތުން ވަޒީރު ޝިޔާމް ވަނީ ކައުންސިލު ބޭފުޅުންނާއި  މަޢުލޫމާތު ހިއްސާކުރައްވާފައެވެ. މި ފުރުޞަތުތަކުގެ ބޭނުން ހިފުމަށް ރައްޔިތުން ހޭލުންތެރިކުރުވުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަންވެސް މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.
